homelessness prevention program

Through the Ohio Housing Trust Fund and a Community Development Block Grant, The Other Place assists low-income Montgomery County residents who are at risk of homelessness due to eviction or utility disconnect.  Deposit assistance is also available to establish housing from homelessness.

Applicants must call the The Other Place (937-293-1945) to pre-screen for eligibility, and if eligible they will schedule an appointment for financial assistance, case management and referrals.

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age, and must be the person responsible for the debt. Applicants who have received financial assistance within the last 12 months are not eligible. Qualifying applicant households must:

  • Be Montgomery County residents
  • Provide photo IDs
  • Provide landlord name, address and phone
  • Provide eviction notice or utility disconnect notice
  • Be at or below 35% of the Area Median Income
  • Provide proof of income (i.e. paycheck stubs, Social Security award letter, unemployment statement, letter from new employer, etc.)
  • Be able to assume/resume payments following the provision of assistance
